The book describes the brief scenario of currency right from Shivaji era till 20th century. Its cover the Maratha coins with mudras of Mughal Kings, concepts of ?Pai?, ?Paisa?, ?Ana?, ?Rupaya?, ?Mohar? during British reign in India. Author also has displayed the details about the currency notes of Reserve Bank post independence, along with the governors and Rs.1 to Rs.1000 denominations; and the specimen signatures of all governors of RBI till date.
An interesting fact is given about how the British generated coins in India, the appearance of coins. How a hobby of collecting coins be developed, maintained, conservation of coins, classification of coins and where the coins can be obtained is given.
There are 6 appendices consisting of coins generated during 1835 to 1988 with proportion of metal and alloy is given in 1st, 2nd and 3rd appendices contain the coin manufacturing places in India. The Maratha kingdoms of India post Shivaji period are given in 4th appendix.
