Adnyapatra means a 'Royal Edict' also known as Shivkalin "Rajneti" written by Ramchandrapant Amatya, a contemporary of Shivaji Maharaj, is considered as an authentic work on the Maratha polity of Shivaji's time. M.M.DV. Potdar, a reputed Maratha scholar describes it as a 'a unique piece of historical literature of medieval times'.Professor V.B.Kolte, a well-known Marathi linguist calls it as "priceless and unparalleled piece of work in Marathi literature". Thus according to the scholars, 'Adnyapatra'(Loyal Edict) is a major authentic source book for the study of Maratha polity under Shivaji and medieval Marathi language.

    One of the unique features of the present edition of professor A.R.Kulkarni, is that it gives the accepted original manuscript of Adnyapatra in Modi Script, its Marathi transliteration line by line, and its English translation done long back by a well-known political scientist, professor S.V.Puntambekar.
