There is a need for the regional histories as they are the vital part of the historiography of India. The author, who was
spent a great deal of time in Baglan, has tried to fill this gap. Baglan, which is a backward taluka of Nashik district
an important region in history. The main lines of communication between Gujarat and Deccan, Khandesh and Nashik,
passed through Baglan. Its orchards were famous, producing fruit which graced the imperial tables at Agra and Delhi. The
'phad' system of irrigation was equally famous and important used by other states.
This book deals with not only military and political history of Baglan, but also describes the life and times of the people
of area- the Bhils and Konkanas. It is thus socio-economic history as well with maps and diagrams of related forts and area around Baglan.
